Clear Run Elementary Center in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania Minimize

Congratulations CREC!! Clear Run Elementary Center in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania has been reading "The Great Kapok Tree" and created a rainforest in their hallway. The fourth graders are learning the importance of the rainforest from Mrs. Trichilo and Mr. Sottolano, while sitting under the canopy contemplating how valuable the rainforest is to our future even though we are so far away. So in cooperation with other fourth grade teachers, Ms. Grimm, Ms. Goll, Ms. Domnick, Mrs. Limani, and Mrs. Roberts, they decided to do something to help preserve the rainforest. CREC fourth graders designed and made t-shirts to raise money "to save as many acres as we can". With the profits off of four t- shirts, they were able to save an acre of rainforest. Being inspired and super sales people, they sold t-shirts to everybody! When they were finished, they had enough to save one hundred acres, 100 acres like 20,600 giant trees including several Great Kapok trees. If these trees were laid end to end they would stretch from Clear Run Elementary Center to New York City and back again. Imagine all the monkeys, macaws, hummingbirds, butterflies and orchids living in those trees. GREAT JOB CREC!!! You really know how to save the rainforest.
